Beskrivelse

This book brings together expert scholars from Norway and the UK to create a clear and accessible link between modern English literature and teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). It offers fresh insights and practical guidance tailored for English teachers and teacher training.

An updated guide connecting contemporary English literature with effective TEFL teaching strategies.

In this fully revised second edition, you’ll find new chapters focusing on global education and diversity, digital literature, inclusive reading strategies, and ways to actively engage with poetry. The book aligns closely with the LK20 curriculum competence goals, making it a valuable resource for English teacher training and school programs.

The primary focus remains on literature for children and young adults, embracing new genres like graphic novels, digital texts, and experimental picturebooks. The suggested texts represent a wide variety of English-speaking countries and communities, providing diverse options and thoughtful advice on selecting and analyzing engaging materials for classroom use.

All ten chapters blend current theoretical and research-based knowledge with practical, adaptable teaching activities. Each chapter offers a range of approaches, including differentiation and online tasks, designed to support the varied demands faced by English teachers in the classroom.

Creative and active learning methods are highlighted throughout, featuring examples such as outdoor learning, drama projects, and collaborative text creation. Multi-modal texts and resources also play a key role in the book’s approach.

Striking a balance between contemporary literary genres and adaptations-including film-alongside poetry, novels, and Shakespeare, this book is an essential read for English teacher training students and TEFL teachers at all school levels.
