Beskrivelse

Looking to introduce self-management in your team or organization? This book offers practical steps and behavioral skills to help you succeed with autonomous teams.

A comprehensive guide to fostering effective self-managing teams through actionable skills and leadership strategies.

Succeed with Self-Managing Teams, One Step at a Time serves as a practical toolbox for leaders eager to implement self-management within their teams, companies, or organizations. It outlines 15 key behavioral skills that encourage genuine autonomy in the workplace, all designed to be adopted gradually, one step at a time.

Alongside these skills, the book shares concrete tips and tricks for running meetings, adopting new leadership styles, and managing recruitment and onboarding processes while transitioning to self-management. It begins by explaining the theoretical foundations that make self-managing teams a powerful and motivating approach, highlighting how challenges like silo mentalities, the gig economy, and uneven responsibility distribution can be tackled through autonomy, equality, and broad delegation.

The ultimate goal of this book is to make it straightforward for you to nurture more autonomous behavior without waiting for top-level management to overhaul the entire organization. You can start immediately with your own team, applying the behavioral skills and tools that suit your unique situation.

The book features a spiral spine, making it easy to use as a handy reference guide. The 15 behavioral competencies covered include:

• Seeing the System as a Whole
• Equality
• Decision-making
• Experiments
• Roles
• Trust
• Feedback & Learning Culture
• Listening/Presence
• Transparency
• Caring
• Celebrating and Positivity
• Conflicts and Disagreements
• Change
• Goals & Progress
• Knowledge Sharing & Coordination

Additionally, the book addresses essential areas to support implementation such as meetings, handbooks, recruitment and onboarding, leadership, and common challenges faced by self-managing teams.
