Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse. The Ultimate History

Beskrivelse

Discover the incredible journey of Mickey Mouse, the world’s most iconic mouse, who first appeared on November 18, 1928. This richly illustrated book celebrates over 90 years of Mickey’s enduring legacy in the Disney universe.

A comprehensive look at Mickey Mouse’s creation, evolution, and cultural impact.

Beginning with the initial sketches of a character almost named Mortimer, this book traces the rise of Walt Disney’s and Ub Iwerks’s beloved creation. Mickey’s worldwide fame, second only to Charlie Chaplin’s earlier success, is explored through a vast collection of concept art, storyboards, background paintings, and animation drawings.

Featuring highlights from timeless classics like Steamboat Willie, The Band Concert, and Brave Little Tailor, the book also follows Mickey’s journey into feature films such as Fantasia and Fun and Fancy Free. Unfinished projects are revealed for the first time with original storyboard drawings, offering a glimpse of what might have been.

Extensive archival research uncovers lesser-known chapters of Mickey’s career, including his pioneering radio shows, the origins of the Mickey Mouse Club, and his role as a patriotic symbol during World War II. The book showcases the work of all major Mickey artists in both film and comics, including legends like Ub Iwerks, Win Smith, Ferdinand Horvath, Fred Moore, Floyd Gottfredson, Carl Barks, Manuel Gonzales, Paul Murry, Romano Scarpa, Giorgio Cavazzano, Byron Erickson, Cesar Ferioli, and Noel Van Horn.

Mickey Mouse has become a cultural icon whose influence is felt worldwide. As Walt Disney famously said, “I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing-that it was all started by a mouse.” And the story of Mickey’s success continues to grow.
